Regulatory Scope
Overview
The Energy Commission (EC), under the Gas Supply Act 1993 (Act 501), oversees the economic regulation on key gas facilities namely regasification terminal, transmission pipelines and distribution pipelines and responsible for safety regulation within the distribution and retail segments of the natural gas supply chain.
- Regasification terminal in Sungai Udang, Melaka, operated by Regas Terminal (Sg. Udang) Sdn. Bhd
- Regasification terminal in Pengerang, Johor, operated by Pengerang LNG (Two) Sdn. Bhd.
- Transmission pipeline, operated by PETRONAS Gas Berhad
- Distribution pipeline, operated by Gas Malaysia Distribution Sdn. Bhd.
Together, these facilities support the efficient and secure delivery of natural gas from the entry point of gas value chain through to end users across Peninsular Malaysia.
